How AI and EDI Work Together

More companies have started implementing AI projects. However, many have found they are not or did not get the results they had expected. Why not? There are many factors to consider when implementing AI. Here are a few key factors:
- Successful AI starts with a specific, valuable problem - AI should not be implemented without looking at your company as a whole and not just one department. Every department interacts with each other. How AI affects every department must be part of the overall plan.
- AI is only as good as the data behind it – Without timely and accurate data, AI results will only be as good as the data available.
- Without senior sponsorship, AI stalls at the pilot stage – If senior management isn’t bought into the AI project, it may not deliver the expected results. Senior management will help drive the project and receive cooperation from all departments.
- Most AI failures are actually data failures in disguise – Data failures can cause inaccurate forecasts, missing key variables, perform great in testing and fail in production. AI does not fix bad data-- It industrializes.
How does EDI work with AI? EDI gives end-to-end processes visibility. It spans the entire supply chain. Suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and orders, acknowledgements, ASNs, invoices, payment. AI can use this to:
- Detect bottlenecks before they happen
- Predict delays or shortages
- Optimize inventory and logistics
- Recommend corrective actions
Without EDI, AI only sees fragments of the process. Do you have all the information you need for your AI project to be successful? If not, Innovate can help.
